Michelle Lombaard

Director – Accounting Standards

Michelle joined the XRB in April 2024 as Director of Accounting Standards. Most recently, Michelle has been with Deloitte, both here in New Zealand as Director, Assurance and Advisory and in her homeland South Africa, in a variety of leadership and management roles.

As a financial reporting specialist, Michelle also brings vast NZ IFRS and audit experience to her role with the XRB. An experienced Chartered Accountant (CA) with more than 10 years of experience working across several sectors including energy, agriculture, and Māori businesses, Michelle’s career has had a strong focus on facilitating dialogue across a broad stakeholder spectrum. Michelle lives with her husband and 2 children in Wellington. In her free time enjoys travelling and exploring cafes around Wellington.
